All things pastel

Wow, it's been ages since my last post, i am so sorry, it's just been a really big week and by big I mean sitting in bed watching youtube videos as last tuesday I got my jaw broken :| I thought I would be posting heaps during this time, but unfortunately I haven't been in the right mind space to put words together because god knows what I would have ended up writing about!

Today as I am writing this post I am sat in front of the TV watching the red carpet at the brownlow and after watching numerous shows from fashion week in Milan, Paris, New York and London I have seen a few trends really stand out to me.

Pastel, who doesn't love this and especially for the spring now, I don't know how you could fault this trend, its classy, femenine and sophisticated. You don't need to go all out head to toe pastel, like  seen on many runways, but even a touch of pastel can brighten up any outfit, and like I said before, nothing says spring than pastel!

Shown on many different runways shows this season, pastel is back and stronger than ever!

Lush's Blogger Event and OOTN

So yesterday evening I was lucky enough to be invited to Lush's Blogger Event. It was a great and I didn't think I could love Lush anymore before attending, but they have definitely managed to get me even more hooked than I was beforehand!

Looking over everyone having fun participating in many different activities

We were lucky enough to hear about the ethics of Lush before taking apart of many different activities. I don't think I could be more impressed with the values Lush have and what a positive impact they are making to the greater community. If you have ever heard of Lush or used any of their products before I am sure you are aware that one of there biggest aim is to leave as little impact on the environment as possible. I certainly had these beliefs, but I had no idea just how much they are doing to produce green products.
Many companies these days are able to say they don't test their products on animals and be truthful, but that doesn't mean they aren't getting someone else to test the ingredients for them. However, you can go into any Lush store worldwide and be guarantied that all of the suppliers for their ingredients are also not testing any of their products on animals.
You may not know it, but Lush have a fund called the Slush fund in this fund they put 2% of the money they would spend on buying in ingredients then donate the money to farmers in third world countries in order to allow them to become self sufficient and later a producer of Lush ingredients. Lush also have their charity pot product in which ALL the proceeds except GST goes to many different charities, I just find these such unbelievably kind acts!
The packaging on Lush products are far different from any other packaging. They try to make all of their packaging recyclable, reusable or very low impact on the environment. It is against Lush's policy to spend money on any form of advertising therefore you know your money is going purely to charity and for the top quality ingredients you receive when you purchase from Lush.

Being shown a new way of packaging, A japanese tradition of using scarfs that are then given back to the person who gave the gift to be reused again.

Lastly, Lush have hundreds of shops on busy streets and Lush use this space very effectively. They campaign for issues they believe in including gay marriage and asylum seekers only naming a few.

Looking over all of Lush's Bath Bombs

Lush is such an unselfish, natural brand which I have gained a lot of trust in their products. I can sometimes come up with an oily T zone, and am trying to eat clean and use organic, clean products in attempt to better my skin. I have been trying this for a while and never been able to come across a brand that I fully trust is natural, but now I do. I don't see why you would buy from anywhere else, organic ingredients that are not only good for the environment but leave your skin soft, and smelling amazing! I can honestly not say one brand about any of these products.

Creating our own Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser

Packaging The cleanser

The event run by Lush could not have been any better run! We were greeted by champagne, juice and nibbles before an overview on the brand ethics which I have briefly covered above. We were able to make our own angels on bare skin cleanser which reaffirmed just how natural all their products are. We were treated and pampered from skin consultations, my skin has never felt so good. I tried out Lush's emotional wheel of brilliance which is an experience unlike anything I had tried before.  Each colour is related to an emotion. I don't want to ruin it for anyone who is wanting to have this done in the future but I can honestly say the colours and emotions I picked out described me very closely which was surprising to me, I would definitely have a go at the emotional brilliance wheel if you ever get the opportunity!

I was lucky enough to go home with the angels on bare skin cleanser, Ro's Argan body conditioner, Ultrabland Facial Cleanser,Herbalism Fresh Facial Cleanser, Dream Cream Hand and Body Lotion, Bubblegum Lip Scrub, Sex Bomb Bath Ballistic, Honey I Washed The Kids Soap, Coal Face Cleanser and Breath of Fresh Air Toner. I am incredible thankful for to Lush for allowing me to attend such an incredible night and for the products they were kind enough to let me sample. Be sure to look out for reviews to come up in the next few days or weeks. I am sure I will be buying more products in the near future as well so keep an eye out for that.

This Weeks Rave

Untitled #213

This week, I am absolutely loving all the trends right now, but two I am loving in particular would have to be all things leather and tartan. I am also loving the St Ives Naturally clear Green Tea Scrub and Matrix Amplify Volume Shampoo and Conditioner.

I first came across the St Ives Naturally clear Green Tea Scrub this march when I first started getting bumps on my head and I noticed a massive improvement after using this, unfortunately I was unable to find this product again and so I bought other St Ives scrubs, but none showed nearly the same results. So you can imagine how stoked I was when I came across this product again in my local supermarket! If you can get your hands on this you definately should especially if you have a few lumpy bits on your skin.

I have only just started using the Matrix Amplify Volume Shampoo and Conditioner about two weeks ago and I am surprisingly pleased with the results, I have tried many volumising shampoos and have never noticed any help, I have noticed a bit more lift in my hair after using these products, but I am still wanting a bit more volume to my hair.

I just love leather, it goes with nearly everything and can be used to look casual and cute as well as put together and sophisticated, it is a must have for your wardrobe and I would buy it for pretty much any item of clothing!
Tartan is also a trend I am loving, I have always been a fan of tartan scarfs, but other than that I couldn't really see myself wearing much checkered print, but I have completely changed my mind, I love it! For someone who likes to wear a lot of monocrome, a little bit of tartan is the perfect thing to spice up any outfit. However, I think this is a trend that people could take over the top, I would only wear one piece of tartan in an outfit. My favourite item though would have to be the tartan heels shown above. I am in LOVE! You can find them at shopbop.com

I really want to try the volumising shampoo and condition from moroccan oil, does anyone have any volumising hair product that you use and recommend? Also I would love to hear what your views are on the current fashion trends.

Beauty Haul- MAC and Revlon

So last week I went shopping again and bought a few beauty related products so I thought I might share  with you what I got from revlon and Mac.

I bought two revlon lipsticks from their new collection which had just been taken to store that day. I loved the whole collections and literally spent 10 minutes deciding which two to buy. I ended up purchasing Fuchsia Shock, 815 (left) and Plum Velour, 850 (right).
See swatches below, I apologise the lighting isn't great. They aren't as pigmented as I thought they would be so they aren't incredibly bold but they are still rather lovely.

I also decided I would try out the powder plus foundation from MAC, I am not all that impressed, I was unsure of what shade to get as I am quite pale, but unfortunately I got the lighter shade and it makes me look really flushed out, compared to the YSL one which I love I don't see myself buying this product again. It might have been better if I had of bought the right shade. It also comes with a sponge however, it works a million times better with a brush.

I also purchased a brow liner crayon in Brunette, I love this product! The brush on the end is so good, like my eyebrows are so much more gorgeous just after using the brush and then when I use the pencil as well it looks amazing! Would defiantly recommend this product.

Lastly I bought a liquid liner, I have always just used pencil eyeliners so I am horrid at applying this, I have practised a few times with horrid results so I can't really rate this product, but I will keep trying because practise makes perfect. I Just really like the look the liquid liner gives the eye and have been inspired by how many people are doing their eye makeup lately. So I thought I might buy this and give it a try.

The lady at Revlon was lovely and gave me these samples and who doesn't love free samples? So I will be sure to true these out and get back to you on how I like them.

I was super impressed by the service at Revlon and getting samples thrown in probably helps. MAC however, I went into two different MAC stores and got very different service, MAC Myer I was very disappointed in and they just wanted to get me out of there as soon as possible, MAC David Jones though a had a super experience with and they put on different products on me to ensure I had the right shades. They took the time to make sure I was happy with the products and I am grateful for that. I am aware that every shop has different service and different workers, but I just wanted to share my experiences with you.
